Title: Mandala

A mandala is used in Hinduism and Buddhism.  It is a geometric form that is a representation of order in the Universe.  It is considered a spiritual teaching tool that helps with meditation leading to deeper levels of the unconscious.  Sometimes used in sand painting, I have produced this one with small strokes of paint.  A very meditative process.

Although this piece is abstract, I consider myself a representational artist that prefers to paint from life.  The goal of my art is to express something more than just the surface of my subject.
